On Thursday 9th June, Alison was lucky enough to be invited, along with a small group of business people from Aberdeen, to an exclusive Track Cycling event at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, Scotland’s first indoor Velodrome.

The Velodrome is the home of Scottish Cycling, has a 250 meter indoor track and capacity for 2,500 spectators. The Velodrome is part of the impressive Emirates Arena that also homes the Commonwealth Arena, built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Alison and the team she travelled with began their time at the Emirates Arena by meeting some of the Scottish Cycling support team and were given a tour of the Velodrome. This was then followed by a track session lasting an hour on fixed gear track bikes with guidance and coaching from Scottish Cycling and Glasgow Life professionals.

After an intense training session, Alison and the team were treated to some well-deserved refreshments and had the opportunity to meet the Performance Squad and watch the professionals in action during their training session.

The Velodrome trip has given Alison even more drive to increase her training for Ride the North and the Vietnam to Cambodia challenge. Any spare time has been spent cycling throughout Aberdeenshire and attending personal training sessions at the gym.
