On Saturday 30th April, Alison cycled over 46 miles in just 3 hours and 38 minutes. During her cycle, Alison made a pitstop in Banchory to visit the Chest Heart and Stroke charity shop, one of the four charities she is supporting in the #activAlison campaign.
Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) has various shops throughout Scotland and these work as an additional form of funding thanks to those who donate items, those who purchase and the volunteers who keep the shops running. There are four CHSS stores in the North-east of Scotland: Aberdeen, Cults, Forres and Banchory (pictured below with Alison having a much deserved break from pedalling!).
Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland is an independent charity and relies heavily on the support of the Scottish public, community organisations and businesses. The charity aims to improve the quality of life for people living in Scotland that are affected by chest, heart and stroke illness.
Funds raised for CHSS through #activAlison will make a huge difference to people’s lives throughout Scotland in a number of different ways. In the North-east of Scotland alone, the following activities are able to be provided thanks to generous donations:

- Stroke Specialist Service
- Stroke Training Programme
- Research Funding
- Stores
- Personal Support Grants

No matter how big or small a donation to CHSS may be, it will contribute towards making a difference to someone’s life. It costs as little as £5 to provide 30 people with an ID card stating that they have communication difficulties due to a stroke, saving them the embarrassment of having to explain to someone who may be unaware of their difficulties. Larger donations of £1,000 can cover the cost of specialist spectroscopy and heart scans in an Aberdeen study evaluating new therapies for heart failure.
