His work supports Operations, HR, and Finance teams, ensuring smooth and compliant payroll delivery for clients with operations across Africa.

Q: What industry trend should organisations keep an eye on?
A: The Employer of Record approach to global talent sourcing is increasingly important, enabling organisations to hire international talent while simplifying compliance and administrative responsibilities.

Q: What’s one challenge in global payroll, global mobility, and global HR you’re passionate about solving?
A: I am particularly focused on employee taxes, especially ensuring compliance for non-residency tax obligations, which can be complex across multiple jurisdictions.

Q: What’s a skill you rely on every day?
A: Problem solving—breaking down large tasks into smaller, manageable units is essential in navigating the complexities of global payroll operations.

Q: What prompted the Africa payroll compliance audit you led, and what impact did it have for clients?
A: Soon after joining the team, I identified a high volume of escalations and compliance-related queries. This led to the need for an audit to provide an objective assessment of the challenges. As a result, non-compliant areas were identified, and corrective actions were implemented to improve overall compliance for our clients.

Q: What makes payroll and compliance in Africa unique compared to other regions?
A: Africa consists of 52 countries, each with its own legislation, which can change frequently. This makes compliance particularly complex and critical to manage effectively.

Q: What advice would you give organisations expanding into Africa for the first time?
A: There are significant opportunities for business growth across Africa; however, it is important to seek professional and expert advice to ensure compliance and a smooth market entry.
