#activAlison Launch - activpayroll

This year, Alison Sellar, CEO of activpayroll, will be at the forefront of the firm’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) efforts with the launch of the #activAlison campaign.

Alison will be participating in two major cycling events and is relying on the support of her activpayroll team, customers, suppliers, family, friends and businesses that can help raise funds for her four chosen charities.

In August 2016, Alison will take part in Ride the North, a two day cycle covering 281 km through the Grampian Highlands. The event will begin in the Aberdeenshire village of Rhynie and continue through the foothills of the Cairngorms finishing at Culloden, just to the East of Inverness. Day two will start at Culloden and finish back in Rhynie, cycling via Forres and Elgin.

In November, Alison will then travel to South East Asia to take part in her second and most challenging cycle of 2016. She will embark on a 450 km cycle starting in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City on November 26th and finishing at the world heritage site of Angkor Wat in Cambodia on December 2nd. This will be a gruelling challenge with some days of the trip covering 100 km of cycling on very uneven ground and in extreme heat.

Anyone who knows Alison will understand that she wants to help as many people as possible, and it is for this reason that she is fundraising for four different charities. Anyone kind enough to support Alison on her cycles has the option of donating to:

Maggie’s - A charity that offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families. There are a number of Maggie's centres across the UK which allow those affected by cancer to drop in at any time to seek the comfort they need in a relaxing environment.

Woman V Cancer Funds raised for Woman V Cancer are split equally between Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland For personal reasons, this is a cause very close to Alison’s heart. The independent charity helps improve the quality of life for people affected by chest, heart and stroke illness.

Friends of Anchor - In addition to Alison’s cycles, our UK Service Delivery Manager, Kimberly Morrison, will be taking part in 10 different charity events this year to raise money for Friends of Anchor, North East Scotland’s cancer and haematology unit. After overcoming breast cancer herself, Kimberly wants to help those who help fight cancer on a day to day basis.

As part of the campaign, Alison is looking for businesses to make a donation to any of the four chosen charities. In return, companies will have the opportunity to have their logo displayed on Alison’s Vietnam to Cambodia cycling gear and will be thanked throughout the PR and social media campaign.

Alison Sellar, CEO of activpayroll, said: “Given the current climate, many companies have had to put their CSR efforts on hold, however, I want to ensure that Scottish charities aren’t suffering as a result of this. I’m aware of how physically demanding these cycles will be, but I love a challenge and will do anything I can to help such deserving charities. I’d like to thank those who have already sponsored me, including Aberdeen Football Club, CALA Homes (North) Ltd and David Lloyd Aberdeen. I really hope others will follow in their footsteps to help me reach my target of £20,000.”
