Her role is centred on accuracy, timeliness and compliance, ensuring payroll is delivered seamlessly despite complex and varied local regulatory requirements.
With more than 20 years of payroll experience, primarily in outsourced environments, Berliza brings deep operational expertise to activpayroll’s APAC function. She has led and supported payroll operations for a wide range of clients, managing complex, multi-country payrolls and supporting business growth across the region.
Her role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Finance and Commercial, as well as providing operational insight and support to business development initiatives. Berliza is relied upon to ensure payroll delivery remains robust, compliant and scalable as client needs evolve.
Q: What industry trend should organisations keep an eye on?
A: Business in the APAC region is growing rapidly, creating significant opportunities for organisations expanding into new markets. At the same time, the constantly evolving regulatory landscape across local jurisdictions makes compliance increasingly complex. This is why having a strong network of trusted, local partners is critical, helping organisations stay compliant while scaling confidently across the region.
Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your role?
A: It’s incredibly rewarding to see my team members receive positive feedback and appreciation from clients. Knowing that our work makes a real difference to our clients’ operations, and seeing my team recognised for their expertise and dedication, makes me genuinely proud.
Q: What’s the best career advice you’ve received?
A: Your personal development is your responsibility. I strongly believe in owning your growth rather than waiting for opportunities to come to you. Taking initiative, staying curious and continually developing your skills are essential for long-term career progression.
My role is never boring. Each day brings a mix of challenges including constant problem-solving, decision-making and occasional crisis management. The work requires patience, resilience, and adaptability, but it is also deeply rewarding, providing a sense of accomplishment when complex payroll operations run smoothly and client expectations are exceeded.
