Get to know our Aberdeen based Senior Payroll Administrator, Jean Davidson.

What is your name?

Jean Davidson

What is your role title?

Senior Payroll Administrator

What do you do in your role?

I process UK payrolls in the Aberdeen activpayroll office.

What key skills do you bring to activpayroll?

Over the years I have gained the knowledge and understanding of processing payrolls for a range of customers. I hope that I have passed on some of that knowledge to the new administrators that have come into the world of payroll.

What gives you the most satisfaction about your job?

I think it would be completing the process from A – B. The good rapport you have with customers is also paramount, after all, ‘the customer is always right!’

How did you get into the Payroll industry and why?

I was always good with figures and when I left school I think it was a natural thing to do, I was learning payroll and accounts. Back in the day it was all manual and the columns that had to be added were horrendous, I got used to it though.

What has been the most challenging project you’ve worked on at activpayroll? Why?

I have always thought that a payroll is a payroll. The most time-consuming payroll I have at the moment doesn’t even involve PAYE! I will say that I prefer a payroll that provides some challenge!

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement outside of activpayroll?

This must be my involvement with Judo. From being a parent and taking the kids along to judo up to the point now where I can run national competitions would make this a great achievement. That and reaching my young age!

What company value means the most to you and why?

They all mean something to me, however I think the main two would be accountable and committed to service excellence.

Do you have any hobbies/ What do you like to do in your free time?

Apart from going down to judo and being the secretary and treasurer, which takes up a fair bit of time, I enjoy doing crosswords, listening to music and meeting up with friends.

Who is your professional role model and why?

It has to be Alison Sellar, she has shown what can be achieved through dedication and perseverance.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why?

Derek McInnes! Being a lifelong Dons fan this would make my day!
