This year the activpayroll team has been busy taking part in several challenges to raise vital funds for five deserving charities, successfully raising over £13,000.

St Columba’s Hospice

In May, Audit & Compliance Manager, Simon Wright, kicked off the fundraising in the Edinburgh office by taking part in the Edinburgh Half Marathon, making it his first ever half marathon. Throughout the year the team also took part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk, bake sales, dress down weeks and pub quizzes all in aid of St Columba’s Hospice.

Animal Rescue Organisation

The Cape Town office chose to support Animal Rescue Organisation by competing in the IMPI Challenge, a race combining trail running with an adventure style obstacle course and the Knysna Forest Half Marathon.

Maggie’s Aberdeen

March saw activpayroll sponsor and organise the second annual Maggie’s Fizz Afternoon, this year in the form of a Mexican ‘Fizz Fiesta’. Over 100 women attended the event and a staggering £6,714 was raised through ticket sales, drinks and raffles. On Friday 21st June, a team of over 20 from activpayroll took to the streets of Aberdeen and completed the Maggie’s Culture Crawl. Despite some torrential weather conditions, the team finished the 10-mile night walk while visiting various cultural landmarks.

Friends of Anchor

On Saturday 25th May, Jurgita from the Aberdeen office took to the skies and experienced a free fall from 10,000ft over Scotland all in aid of Friends of Anchor. 2019 also saw the Aberdeen team take part in the Anchor Wipeout and Glack Attack, every penny raised by the team goes directly to Friends of Anchor, supporting those with a cancer or haematology diagnosis in North East of Scotland.

Charlie House

To support Charlie House this year, team members in Aberdeen took part in Run Garioch, Run Balmoral, BHGE10K, Aberdeen Kiltwalk, pub quizzes, dress down weeks and bake sales. In addition to raising much needed funds to support the charities ‘Big Build Appeal’, activpayroll also donated two brand new iPads to the charity which will help support users of Charlie House.

Alison Sellar, CEO of activpayroll, said: “To be able to present our chosen charities with this year’s donations is an extremely proud moment for me. The teams took on some seriously tough challenges and it is great to see the funds they raised going to such great causes.”
