Graduate Software Developer

PRIMARY FUNCTION

As a Graduate Developer, you will be tasked with designing, developing and maintaining activpayroll’s global applications and the environments they function in under the guidance of experienced developers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Duties

  • Support all systems and applications, implementing bug fixes and exploring improvements through code changes
  • Responsible for the development of components of a much larger system, writing code to complement that which is being developed by colleagues
  • Regular communication to line manager on progress
  • Adhere to internal documented procedures
  • Compliance with company procedures

Service Excellence

  • Ensure that any serious issues/problems are raised with line manager
  • Multitask internal and external support requests with application development projects

Team Focus

  • Prioritisation of own workload on day to day basis
  • Must be able to work in a team and follow strict guidelines for the development of applications
  • Ensuring a safe working environment and raising any health & safety concerns immediately

Commercial Awareness

  • Ability to work to development deadlines

Professional & Personal Development

  • Ensure that PPR objectives are reviewed with line manager regularly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated with an eagerness to learn and develop new skills

Competencies

  • Software Development Degree or equivalent is required
  • Experience with .NET is desirable
  • Experience with Angular or similar frameworks is desirable
  • Experience with HMTL and CSS is desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar relational databases is desirable
  • Excellent analytical and numeracy skills
  • Must be able to work in a team and follow strict guidelines for the development of applications
  • Understand and adhere to development and testing best practice
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision
