CSR
activpayroll is committed to behaving ethically in business and to actively contributing towards the economical development of the communities that we operate in. activpayroll has an active fundraising campaign for charitable causes, and regularly supports both local and national campaigns.
Pennies for Promise
In September 2011, to mark our 10th Birthday and National Payroll Week we launched Pennies for Promise, an innovative payroll giving scheme that ensures that 100% of donations go to charity.
It is a payroll giving scheme that allows any employee to make a donation to a charity directly from their net pay. The employee’s net pay is rounded down to the nearest pound, and the remaining pennies are donated to a charity of their choice.
Unlike other payroll giving schemes, Pennies for Promise ensures that 100% of donated funds go directly to supported charities. There is no cost for employers, employees or charities involved. This is achieved by the donation of support to run the scheme, by activpayroll.
Supported charities include: Oxfam, The Multiple Sclerosis Trust, Sue Ryder, Clan, Glencraft, Aberdeen Foyer, The Cyrenians, Befriend a Child, The Lord Provost’s Charity and Cash for Kids.

Supporting local charitable causes that need our help
As one of the oldest UK furniture firms, formed in 1843, Glencraft is more than just an employer. It is a means by which people with disabilities can achieve and maintain independent lives through the dignity of work. Over seventy percent of their employees have a disability, and most would be seriously challenged to find and keep comparable jobs in the open workplace. When Glencraft was at risk of closure in 2010, activpayroll stepped in to provide complete payroll services free of charge, helping to secure their financial balance sheet. We proudly continue to support them free of charge.
Aberdeen Foyer works to help vulnerable young people, aged 16 - 25, enabling them to take the next steps toward independent living, learning and work. We’ve worked closely with the organisation for many years, providing payroll services free of charge, allowing them to focus on reforming and improving the lives of young people.
We continue to commit to support both of these organisations free of charge, in the future. We proudly support them, to help them continue to deliver their great work.
Supporting economic development
We recognise the importance of stimulating local commerce in the communities that we operate in. activpayroll provide a leading UK Chamber of Commerce with payroll services free of charge to support their organisation and to help them focus their resources on stimulating business growth in the community.
As a global thought leader, we provide speakers for conferences and networking meetings to offer a specialist insight into payroll and taxation issues for expanding organisations of all sizes, from aspiring sole traders to firms taking their first steps into international trading. This work supports the local business communities that we operate within.
Investing in the future workforce
activpayroll understand the importance of fostering the next generation of professionals to support our growth. activpayroll actively support Universities by accepting and mentoring students for work experience, providing them with invaluable industry knowledge and experience.
As a leading global company, activpayroll also participate in University lectures and discussions about the commercial world of payroll, finance and entrepreneurship. activpayroll is currently setting up a specialist payroll degree with a globally recognised University, the first of its kind.
We welcome invitations to work with any educational organisation.
Caring for our environment
As a company we strive to limit our impact on the environment. We reduce the need for employees to travel by using video-conferencing equipment. We have introduced e-payslips to reduce the number of hardcopy payslips produced each month, and extend this paradigm to our internal administrative procedures, where we print as little as possible. We recycle all waste and actively encourage our employees to do so at home.
